Default and i thought i didnt have a pig-tail

when i bought my RKC, i had no intention of using a battery tender since i ride pretty frequently. in all my years of riding, ive never lost a battery or had one go dead on me (except my ZX6R when i left the tail light on). since its so freakin cold now- and the fact that im not riding as much as i usually do- i picked up a battery tender. when we got a couple 2005 RK's at work, i noticed that they had pig-tails protruding from bike. i also noticed the plugs on some bikes at the dealer (hanging out a bit). when i looked on my 06- i didnt see one.

its amazing what you can find when you LOOK.

i removed the seat, bag and side cover and there it was- zip tied to the frame. after a little re routing, i had my tender hooked up in about 3 minutes.

I have been thinking about that! I have not looked on my Ultra yet. Are they a dealer thing or a factory thing? Manual says nothing about it.

I already had the tender when I got my train. I also was suprised to see the connection when I removed my seat for the first time.

True, they're a dealer thing. Most new bikes I've seen now have them already installed.

even if your bike doesnt have a connector- the battery tender should.

i bought one (a 'junior' model) off of ebay for $29.99 delivered- new in the box.

it contained the charger, alligator clips and the pig-tail (which i planned on installing)

Because I'm up here in the frozen north, its -6 outside as I type this, I found that by using a battery tender with the permanent pigtail I can leave the battery plugged in all winter and not worry about it going dead. This will be the fifth year I've had the same battery in my Ultra and its as strong as the day I bought the bike plusI got into the habit of always plugging the tender into the bike when I return from a ride. I figure this is cheaper then a new battery and so far its payed off for me.

Mine did not have one from Tilley HD in NC. However, they installed one for $12 including the pigtail. Worth it in my opinion.
