Default How WillHarley Leathers Handle Getting Wet

Everyone knows that water is leather's worst enemy.
I am concerned about wearing my Harley leathers in the rain, especially the jacket.
Can anyone help me get over my concerns.

Keep the leather conditioned and rain is no problem. It does rain on cows.

I use Skidmore's Waterproofing Cream. Beeswax based. Test it first. It made the black in my gloves come off on my hands, but didn't harm my boots. It's cheap and works well.

I use water on leather and get my leather jackets wet all the time - never had hurt one. I have even washed leather jackes in water without an issue. A little water won't hurt it.

Robert, I am presuming this question is part of your on-going research for the USArmy? Is the Army planning on moving to Harley leathers soon? If so, PM ASAP and not only PDQ but PFQ! Better yet, make it RFN!! I want to keep this on the QT, though. Maybe we can start a cypher.
Aw screw that, I wanna know if I should look at buying some stock.
I use good old saddle soap to clean, then warm teh leather, then give it a light coat of bee's wax, but be heavier on the stitching, then let it soak in, then wipe the excess off with a clean soft cloth.
Then go riding in as much rain as you want.
BTW...that's how I treat my boots too.

I agree, use a good beeswax leather conditioner once a year and your leathers have nothing to fear from the elements....

Been using leather conditioner on my 25 year old leathers and they are still in great shape despite days in the rain.
