Default How do you keep your bike safe overnight at a motel

I'm thinking of doing a road trip this summer to meet up with the Queens of the Road, and may have a night each way alone or maybe with another QOTR if we can meet up and ride together.

What's the safest way to keep the bike from being stolen or tampered with overnight in a motel parking lot? I was thinking that I wouldn't plan a motel stop it would depend on when I feel like stopping. My bike does not have an alarm system or fob, so it's just fork and engine locks. I would make sure to leave my Heritage soft bags empty overnight so there would be nothing of value to steal from those but I don't want the bike stolen obviously.

Grateful for advice and suggestions. I probably would not have room for a bike cover as I'm likely to be away for a week.

Cover it with a non descript cover or one that says Honda. And you have
to make it unrollable. A pad lock in the brake disk or a chain. Ride safe.

As stated, lotta hotels will let you park up front ask and take advantage, other than that I lock the forks, drink some liquor and sleep like a baby. I have insurance and own 1 of a million black Heritages and they are easily replaced. Don't worry about it. I have ridden all over this great land and never had a problem.

Same here, I would guess over a hundred nights and never a problem. I do like motels better, I can park right by my door. Just lock the forks and go to bed.

I usually go for a bottom floor unit with a park space right in front of the door or window. And as said above, use the ign/fork locks and a disc lock.

Ask if you can park under the lights out front in the registration area. Or cable lock the bike to a fixed object, ( light pole, fence pole, a tree, or a park bench on the sidewalk,) anything to make your bike less attractive to a hit and run thief. They like fast takes, not something they have to mess around with.

Actually you don't. If they want it they'll get it. Just lock the forks and put a big pad lock in the disc brake. Hit the sack and look out in the morning. Thing is nothing will stop someone if that's what they want. Just go and enjoy.

Chain it to a pole. Park in view of camera or near the entrance and ask the over night guy to keep an eye out. Don't rely on them though
