1999 Sportster starter issues
Hi:
I have a 1999 Sporty and the starter is staying engaged even after the engine is running AND the switch and keys are OFF. I had to disconnect the battery to shut down the bike. Nothing new has been done, just started it up to get it's juices flowing and it did not want to stop. Help!

contacts are burned in the solenoid .(sticking together)
simple fix , you can file them smooth , or replace them

So that requires removing the primary cover and removing the starter right? or can it be done without removing the starter?
