Default Face it, ALL HELMETS look kinda goofy

Even the little Fisher Price ones they wear on Sons of Anarchy to look cool.

So you might as well wear one that actually works.

I disagree. I have been wearing helmets all my adult life. As an Army helicopter pilot since 1968 and riding a motorcycle since 1976. I have several ones, modulars, 3/4 and 1/2. I don't worry what I look like in the storefront reflection, or what anyone else thinks. I live in AL which has a helmet law but frequently go into NWFL which does not. When I have pulled into some 'Biker establishments" I often get looks. Maybe they are admiring my non black bike, maybe the handsome guy getting off, maybe because I have on a mesh jacket and it's 90 degrees, maybe it's the helmet I have on. Maybe they wish they were less concerned about image and when the potential crash comes had some protection. Maybe they think this dork who rode in on has shiny FLHTK and has a water or coke is a poser and rub.

But I have had a few ask me about the CD and BAL lights, can't miss them. Bottom line I ride and rarely bar hop, I frankly expected to have about 28-30K at the 2 year anniversary of the bike, April 2013, but my back surgery has me sidelined me a while.

I don't give a rat's *** what anyone thinks of me, my riding style or my riding equipment. Nor should anyone else.

Just my humble temporarily sidelined opinion

EDIT; Just wanted to add, when I am riding I can't see my helmet. Again when I walk into a room I don't look for my reflection. I'll have to admit when I have pulled up next to a plate glass window and can see the reflection, I like what I see.

I think my Shoei Neotek is cool, its comfortable and functional. My favorite 1/2 is my Scorpion has internal sunshield. Wish I could have gotten it in either the cherry or merlot though. Both are gloss black

I want a helmet with a Red Light on top that flashes.... Some movie Geek squad on 50cc scooters where wearing them.

Helmets bite, but when I wrecked my Pan and flew about 30ft thru the air, The helmet I was wearing probably saved me from being brain dead in some hospital on life support for the rest of my life.

Most people don't like to wear a helmet until they need it. Then it usually saves their life.

I wear a 3/4 helmet, have to agree with the OP those 1/2 SoA helmets always look kinda dumb, although having said that they've got to be better for hearing traffic and horns etc.

IMO, because we're in mid-winter blues here, you get what you pay for. Wear what you want, spend as much/little as you want and you only look as cool as YOU want. Just, please, stop posting pics of yourself w/the "duck-lip" I'm cool in my lid and see my bada$$ biker pose. Chicks are OK to show their headgear, but unless you're getting paid to model helmets (guys) - dudes need to keep it to themselves.

OK - I'm done now. Back to my college term paper.

Wear what you want. I choose not to wear a helmet.
