Default bought use Harley but have no clue of ecm previous tune

My question is this; i bought a 2009 iron and it came with a screaming eagle intake, now i want to add some V&H short shots and a V&H fuel pack but i dont know if the previous owner had tuned the motorcycle for the screaming eagle intake. will i damage my engine if i install the V&H short shots and fuel pack if the ECM had a tune already? or will the V&H fuel pack just over ride the tune made for the screaming eagle intake??

My understanding is that the V&H Fuelpak works by using a map set for your V&H AC/exhaust. So with that, it should be adjusted. Maybe others can confirm/disconfirm?

I'm not sure about adding the parts with the present tune.it shouldn't actually hurt anything, but, she probably won't be tuned to the optimum settings.

I do know, you go to the Vance and Hines website, go to the fuel pack setting page, put in your mods and your fuel, pak id number, and they will send you the setup numbers.

If you don't have the fuel pak I'd numbers, just contact them from the site and they will, send you the set up numbers.

It's like 50 or so settings, easy to do, and the bike should run like it's supposed to with your current set up.

I want to add the V&H short shots and V&H fuel pack. All V&H codes for the short shots, so the new fuel pack should override the previous tune right?

Don't need any I.D. numbers. Just go to the fuel pak site and type in your info and it will give you the values to punch in. If you bought the fuel pak new it will come with a manual that has the same info in it you just look it up. Just look it up on the site from time to time to make sure they haven't updated your set-up.

Bottom line, if you don't have a tuner already installed and the bike has an upgraded Screamin Eagle Air Cleaner, it most likely has the Harley Stage 1 Download which remapped the computer adding fuel. I am surprised it doesn't have aftermarket mufflers, chance they have been removed and the original mufflers put back on?

Your new V&H tuner should have either a map for your bike with and without the Stage 1 Download. The bike was running OK so you should be able to simply add the new pipes and tuner. Load the program for your bike, if it seems rich you most likely have the Harley Stage ! download so change to the Fuelpack program for a bike with stage 1 ECM.

Site says if unsure of calibration to type in stock. It does not give stage 1 option. Options are stock or other. If you choose other it wants you to contact them with more info.

You could also call V&H support and ask them. They have always been helpful to me in the past.
