Default I could use your thoughts

I have a 1999 Electra glide. I am replacing the stock cam tensioner, oil pump with hydraulic tensioner set up. Can I bypass the cam position sensor, as the new set up has no place for the sensor to read?

No. If you're original set up used the cam sensor, then you need to have the proper "new" hardware to retain the sensor.

Edit* I'm not sure what year(s) used the cam sensor but I know that when I did the cams in my 99 FXDX I had to use a certain model Andrews Cam gear with my TW26's.....and the cams themselves were model year specific.

The instructions say...

When I did mine, using the SE cam support plate, the directions said for the 99-2000 model bikes to use the old chain/sprockets just for that reason. For peace of mind I did purchase new sprocket(s)/chains of the same model separately.

I too have heard that the cam sensor was not necessary, but that is the most I've seen of that. What I've found with searching the web, seemed to be of those who were changing out the ignition system on some models with aftermarket units which only utilized the crank position sensor.

Thanks to all who read this, I have done a lot of searching and that is the answer I came up with also. Everyone who has done this told me that they have changed the ignition module.
