Help choosing cam
I'm about to have a fm 107" kit installed on my 10 flhx 96". Currently have the pc, arlen ness big sucker, v&h pro propipe 2-1-2, and full bore slipons. I'm looking for some opinions on cam choice now. I'm not doing the heads right now but they are a possibility in the near future so I'm trying to save doing the cams again if I choose to do so. I would like a good all around cam, not too much at low end or top end. Choices are:
Wood Knight Prowler TW-555, TW-222, TW-777, or TW-888
Opinions?

i went with the 555's in my 107". the power reaches its peak about 500 rpms sooner than the 777's, and the difference between the two is like 3-4 tqs.. the 222's are really focused for the 96" and 103" with stock compression..they work well enough though. never heard of the 888's, but from a few dyno sheets i've seen, they seem to be one monster of a cam..and must be brand new, because they weren't listed in november when i ordered my engine kit..otherwise i might have considered them

Without doing the heads, I'd hold off until I could do them right along with the 107" kit. Play around with Big Boyz Twin-Cam Compression and Engine Displacement Calculator in regards to the static, corrected, and cold cranking compression(s). Without pulling and milling the heads, I don't think you'll be satisfied with the results of any of the cams you mentioned. With the exception of the 222's, all the cams mentioned would benefit with a static compression increase in the 10.25 - 10.5:1 range. And from what you're looking for, the 222's wouldn't fit the bill (intake valve closing event @ 34*ABDC).

Is an independent shop doing the install? If so, I'd spend a little time discussing with them what results you're looking for, and which cam to use to get there. He's the one that's going to catch hell if you don't get the results you're looking for.
Sorry if I sound like a killjoy, but with the money you're getting ready to invest, you might as well do it right the first time.
