Lightbulb Harley Assembled Here, Parts Made There

I find it strange you pay nearly 15k for a Harley that you think is made in America but most of the parts are made in Asia and then assembled here. How American made is Harley now? Are they just assembled in America? Most the parts I see are made in China or elsewhere? What percent (%) of Harley's parts are still made in America, I know the motorcycle is assembled here but what % of the parts are made here?

Just wondering?

There are many threads on this topic, and it generally belongs in the General Chat area.

A fair amount of parts on HD's have been made in Japan, Taiwan, and China for the better part of 30 years now. They do this for several reasons.. they're good parts, they're affordable, and partially as a trade agreement, HD uses parts from other countries which in turn allows them to sell HDs in those countries.

As for what % of parts are made here.. no idea.. are you including all the wiring, harness, clips, knick-knacks and do-dads, or are you just talking machined parts like the frame, crank case, pistons, forks, tanks, fenders, etc?

There's a ton of stuff we have, that's made and assembled "there". It's far from recent news. It all changed somewhere in the 1960s and up. As long as there's cheap labor somewhere else, it's going to be that way.

If this bothers you don't ever buy anything that is made globally. You will probably never be able to find a single thing made entirely in the country it is sold.

P.S. at least the profits from those motorcycles stay in the United States of America! Try saying that about Honda.

post a picture of something on your bike that says made in China, keep hearing the same thing just no one has posted a pic yet. Not a disbeliever, just show me.

Let's see some proof that "most" parts are made overseas. Harley should just list their domestic content and put a stop to idle rumors. Don't come in here with your first post, and claim something without proof.

I am holding off on welcoming you , until I decide if you are curious, or a troll. Or even American.
