Vintage photos of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club

Cool pics no doubt. It's easy to romanticize the good old biker days looking at those. Within a decade things got pretty ugly. Some of us temper our waxing nostalgic with the knowledge that some of those guys were definitely not people you would want to get to know.

Outlaws
A good friend of mine and an Outlaw since back in the day, rode with some of the guys in the pics. He is still a member and currently lives in Georgia. It was and still is all about respect. Give it and you will receive it. I have met and become friends with Outlaws, Pagans and Hells Angels over the years, as well as numerous friends and family who are full patch members of these and other MC's. I have never had the desire to join, but consider many of them dear friends. Again, most clubs were started by veterans a long time ago, and others came later and not necessarily started by vets. We all share a common bond in that we enjoy riding a motorcyle. For some it is a way of life and for others its just wanting to be part of a culture that began for the most part right after World War two. We all ride our bikes for different reasons, but my advice to you would be to always be respectful of others. Respects to those who live the dream.

From 1963 to 1967, American photographer Danny Lyon, lived with the Chicago chapter of the Outlaws Motorcycle Club. He published a book in 1968 called The Bikeriders based on the material he gathered during those four years. It is currently out of print, but I've found 30 photos which you can enjoy now...
