New petcock leaking, i got the drip :)
Hey everyone I installed a new Arlen Ness petcock on my 2000 sporty. Everything was good when i first put gas in the bike until i turned it on and went for a ride. shut it off and a few days later i could smell a slight gas smell but very faint. Took it for another ride yesterday and this morning i had a stronger smell in the garage. While polishing the bike today i noticed the petcock had a drip on it. Tightened the main line to the carb and turned it on and the leak was much worse. I turned it back off and could see it slowly develop a drip out of the center about 1 drip every 15-20 sec now. it seam to seal better when it is in between off and reserve but still drips. Did i over tighten the petcock or is it defective. i checked the main line to the carb and nothing was developing from that area. here are a couple of picks. Any help would be appreciated please

pingel fuel valve, yes that is the correct spelling.I wont use anything else any more.If you have custom paint on the tank all the in and out of the valve can crack the paint and the tank.So if you dont care about that reproduction stuff is fine but some will take a year or so some the next week. But they all leak way fater than the pingel. The pingel is rebuildable to.

now your talkn my language rebuild-able, i like that, and worth buying one just for that feature.

it seems there is another competitve brand that is good to might be accell?? but I have stuck with pingel for years. It used to be my first modification when I bought a new bike. You can kill a ness valve by just moving the lever when it has no gas in it.they have a cheesy rubber gasket that will wad up alllowing a leak
