Akoury Helmets
> Akouryhelmets.com shows the helmets they sell.
> Some other websites advertise that they sell Akoury helmets.
> to my knowledge Akoury helmets are made in China....so are some other helmets
> AkouryHelmets.com *states the following about only (1) of its (4) helmets: "... the smallest *legal fiberglass beanie that still meets *DOT standards".... Those interested can see for themselves. Those not interested don't need to bother.

yeah? thanks. didn't know that. /sarcasm
my response was regarding the ak not being dot, just a novelty helmet with a sticker (as implied). [factoid: in la, if you are busted for not wearing a helmet, it's a $100 fine. if you are busted for a novelty helmet with a fake dot sticker, it's a $200 fine]
yes, I know there is no actual dot lab doing the testing, that it is incumbent on the helmet manufacturer to 'self-certify', and there are certain 'guidelines' that must be met. one of which is the dot has to be under the clear coat and not a sticker........
and, if the ak were to be 'selected for testing' that there is a decent chance that it might not pass all the requirements, and therefor end up being pulled from the market and/or recalled.....

The fit and helmet liners, at least on mine are totally different. My AK has a full almost pouch helmet liner while my Crazy has thin foam that adheres with velcro. I purchased mine from Blackbeards on LI and they have had great customer service. I have purchased half helmets from Bell, the Pit Boss, way too big and heavy, as well as others. I have 3 Akoury and I love them. They are the most comfortable helmets I have and do not tend to blow off when I ride.
