Magnum Shielding Customer Service??
Was just wanting to know what other members experience with Magnum Shielding is if any? Over the last couple weeks I've spent roughly $400 with them on upper and lower brake lines and clutch cable for Yaffee Monkey Bars I installed on my SG and brake hoses were great but after installing new clutch cable I couldn't adjust clutch without it dragging and super, hard clunk into gear, so after adjusting dozen times I buttoned and road for 20 miles and just kept dragging! Road it about 20 miles hoping it was gonna stretch out but since the ramp in clutch adjuster was rubbing the throw out bearing it eat it up! Called magnum and they immediatley said it may be to short! Their customer service said I should have checked the cable travel length before installing? I informed them there was no instructions included stating to measure cable travel as it may be wrong! I installed as I have dozens of others in my life and never thought to check it. They also told me to photograph it and email them pics PROVING they made it to short and then they'll give me a return # and I CAN PAY for shipping it back to them and they will repair it or replace it then ship it back and if they are at fault they will after inspecting it reimburse me for shipping expense but only for UPS ground or least expensive way possible! They also stated if I shipped it back without sending pics in an email proving their product is faulty and getting a return number they will not accept or replace it? I've been in business for 25 plus years and been very fortunate to have some success, but in Magnum Shieldings case I feel the customer is always wrong!

I've used them way too many times to remember and have had a couple issues like your describing, but not your results. With in 3 days both times I had a new longer cable at the door with no problem. Yes I paid shipping back 4.00 both times no big deal. I will keep using them without worry.

They make great cables, what they requested from you to fix the cable is not out of the ordinary. Sounds like it might be an install problem.

They don't deviate from their policy's that is for sure. And their ordering policy dictates the buyer is making the decision as to what specifically you are buying so they have no liability to the parts being correct.
The product they sell is top quality though. I had to return a brake line and get longer for my bar install, cost me shipping back and 25% restocking fee. Ended up netting about $10.

I've removed it and its just over a 1/2" short of necessary travel which is 3-1/2", I agree they make beautiful cables that worked well when I've used them in the past I guess I just got someone in customer service that was having a really bad day.

They're definitely not like some companies I've dealt with that when you have a parts issue they just say "we'll send you a new part right away" and don't bother sending the defective part back. Love those companies that exceed my expectations but they are few and far between.

Look, you're dealing with custom parts for motorcycles. What you've experienced is typical, unfortunately. Talk to some guys who have done full-blown custom bikes, about well-known builder's parts and their "customer service".
I can't explain why, but the motorcycle aftermarket world is like none other. It's absolutely horrible with what has become acceptable from parts manufacturers. As we all know, several years ago, there was a rash of "cool-looking" bikes and a lot of shops building them. Never mind the fact that most of those "cool bikes" were barely rideable for anything more than hopping from bar to bar on Saturday night. Most of them are now collecting dust, as garage ornaments today. Then the economy took a face-plant to the floor, and many of those so called "custom bike builders" went belly up. Fast forward to a year or two ago, and the economy is just starting to recover, and a few of these companies were fortunate enough to withstand the storm.
But a lot of these aftermarket parts suppliers have learned a few lessons along the way. One of them being - keep inventory low, and manufacture AFTER you sell it. And in the case of custom cables, that's pretty much the only way to do it. But personally having bought cables and lines from Magnum within the last year or so, I can tell you, they pretty much remove all possibility of error on their part. I called and spoke to this lady there and explained what I wanted, and it sounded like she was very sharp about their products. But she made it very clear that they were not going to build my cable/lines until I filled out the electronic build sheet, and email it to them. Basically, it's a waiver stating that I will get exactly what I requested on the form. They pretty much remove any chance of them not building what was requested. And I'm ok with that, as long it's accurately fulfilled.
Not knowing your entire scenario, I'll add this... some manufacturers are very confident that it's impossible for THEM to make a mistake.

I have ordered the Chromite II cables from them a couple times. They are very good at telling you to make sure the lengths are correct. If you feel the length is short try running it outside your fairing which will free up slack and determine if that is in fact the problem. Otherwise it may be binding.

My front brake line ended up being short when I installed my WO518 bars. Everything I read and talked to people said stock length was fine for those bars and I agree stock cables would be fine. The problem was due to the fact that the Magnum front ABS line comes in two sections with a large 2" connection joining them together. This solid connection obviously does not bend and stock length placed it in a position that need to bend around my top tree to come up out of the Nacelle. Ended up putting 4" over top line in and it's perfect now.
No fault of Magnum Shielding although I was a little perturbed of the restocking fee because even though these are custom lines the one I returned was considered stock length.
