I wouldn't consider buying it new. Like you say it has got one of those very expensive HD logos on it! I have seen one come up on ebay and am just wondering if I should give it a go to save a few ££. The alternative I am considering is buying a new hydraulic lift. http://www.harley-mania.co.uk/produc...roducts_id=300. I would save about £40 (if the bids don't go daft on ebay) which is £40 to spend on something shinier!
Less to go wrong on the hand crank version, but is it a PITA to use?

I havn't seen one oof the HD jacks. BUT i had an old Buick, I'm talking 1953 or so and it had a crank jack. Yea there was a chain with a hook on the end. You hooked it under the bumper and went to cranking. And actually it cranked up that TANK of a car alot easier than the sisior type jacks out today.
Bit problem I see is the crank takes up a good part of that side of the engine, so work on both sides while jacked up and the jack could get in the way.
I like the foot pump better.

I do believe that is the one I seen on display at the dealership with a big bagger on it. It did impress me how rock steady it was.[8D]

RE: HD Hand Crank Motorcycle Service Lift
Pushed a wrong button and lost the whole thing. Once again:::
I have a bud who bought one for his 2000 RK several years ago. I used it before I bought a J&S.
HD Good Points;
You can used while sitting on your ride. WHY I dont know, but you can.
It is stable, but not as stable as the J&S (Actual useage comparison of the two)
HD Not so good points;
The rubber strips came loose early and then off. Carpet tape will temporarily re apply them.
Badfor Both;
Neither had at the time of my purchase, 14 months ago, wheels that were greasable. Use the lift to wash a bike and you will want zerk fitting axels.

Thanks for the replies chaps
FLGEEZ - looks like you're right about the rubber strips. I just went back and looked at the pictures on ebay - no rubber strips.
I will ponder for a few more days and see what happens with bids in the last few minutes - that will probably make the decision for me - usually does on ebay!

Grendel,
One other thing to consider; some jacks require adapters for Dynas, and Sportsters. having to do with frame length and vertical spacing.
also the guys at J&S, not selling just informing, have a handy drainpan that mounts to the lift when full vertical and it's powder coated for easy cleaning. Bought one and a lift and am happy as a three legged dog during break time at the races.
