1988 HD Sportster 883
Hi I have a 1988 Harley Sportster 883 and I am having a problem I can't figure out. It starts right up, idles good, but when I ride it and it gets Hot it just shuts off and I have to wait like 10 to 15 minutes for it to cool down and it will start up again. Once it shuts off it will not turn over unless i wait a while. Does anyone have an idea what is wrong?

I really dosen't matter what section, it's an engine problem not a Sportster exclusive problem.
Have you checked your oil? When you say it will "not turn over",i assume you are saying that it will not crank by the starter. That would indicate that the engine is seizing and frees up when it cools. If that's the case you could be causing serious engine damage. Check the oil level and oil pressure.
If it cranks but won't start then I'd be looking at the ignition system, most likely the coil.
