Harsh shifting
I have a 2013 Fat Bob and I noticed that the shifting of the gears seem to be harsh. Not very smooth, up shifting and down shifting. Feels like it's slamming into gear. Is this normal?
Or is there a way to adjust it so it will shift smoothly??
I would think for the price you pay for these bikes they would have a smooth transmission.

Hmm. Not really sure what "harsh" is. Can you describe?
One man's harsh is another man's punchy.
My Slim's gears shift with more pop than they did on my '96 XL.
I prefer the feel of the Slim's shift action. Go figger.

My sports bike and my dirt bikes all shift better then this. (Smoother) It's almost like the clutch isn't working??
It sort of like the gears are not synchronized?

On my '12 FXDB (Street Bob), with mid pegs and Redline shockproof in the trans it shifted smooth as butter.
I put a foot board kit on it, which moves the shifter up like forwards, it is clunkier- not bad, but different.
Just tonight I adjusted my clutch again, and changed the primary oil to Royal Purple Max-ATF. Going on a run tomorrow, I'll let you know if it helped.

1st Harley Davidson I take it?.....This ain't no sport bike transmission. when you put it in gear....you know it.
Do yourself and your bike a favor and put some real gear oil in the transmission. Something like Redline Shockproof, Spectro 6 Speed, or one of the other gear oils that is made for use in the transmission.
You will be amazed at the difference it makes.

Like stated above first Harley huh? Adjust your clutch if it needs adjusting. Run a heavier weight transmission oil................

I know putting it in first, while standing still, it almost lurches forward, especially in the winter.

If you don't like how the bike's shifting & it's still under warranty...take it back for service...JMO.
