Default Looking for an interesting ride near Myrtle Beach SC

Hey yall.

I'm taking the bike down to Pawley's Island, which is just south of Myrtle Beach, in a few weeks for a family beach week.

I'm looking for a day trip to see something historic, interesting, bizarre, or just a really cool road.

Any suggestions?

Head down to Charleston, Patriots Point is pretty cool, then ride over to the Park and walk around. That would be a full day.

The good riding is northwest sc and of course nc. The pee dee section of sc is kinda boring when it comes to curves.

Lots of roads with nothing to see. The further inland you go the better it gets. But, for day trips there is a lot to see around Charleston and Mt. Pleasant. Savannah is just a bit further south and well worth the ride.

I forgot... The USS North Carolina up in Wilmington is cool if you're into military museums. It's about an 90min ride up 17.

Also you could hit Columbia for a bike night at Thunder Tower/Quaker steak n lube. Not sure what night but its a 2+hr ride from the beach. Hit #9 west. Then grab #1 south to i20 west. Only on the highway for a few minutes.

The ride from Charleston to MB is nice. Did it twice in a rental car. Lots to see and do in Charleston.

You can head down 17 to Georgetown, eat at the River Room, on down to Charleston.

From Florence, it's a nice ride to Georgetown, on up to Murrells Inlet and stop at SBB, then MB, then NMB, on up to Highway 9, the Broken Spoke, then on back to Florence.

The ride from Jacksonville, NC up to the Cedar Island ferry on US70 and NC12 is a beautiful road. Here is a picture I took there in April 2012 of the salt marshes with the ocean beyond:

Take a ride out to Charleston and if you can make it to Kiawah do so. The island roads are nice to ride on.
