Default Softail vs. Dyna 96" bikes w/ SE-255 cam

Ok, here I am a few months of riding now with all the cam changes in my bikes, and my Fat Bob w Stage 1 and SE-255 really woke up with new cam. However, the Fatboy Lo w Stage 1 and SE-255 really didn't seem to improve that much. You can feel it around 3000 rpm start to kick in, but below that it feels pretty much stock. It definitely doesn't pull like the Dyna does.

Does the counter balance on the softail just really hold those bikes back for low end torque? Is it the extra weight of the bike too?

There's only about 15lbs difference in weight, and I can't believe the counterbalancer makes enough difference that you can feel it.

You don't see much concerning performance on the softail forum. The softails are not designed for performance but are made for relax easy riding.

Checked compression and both cylinders came out at 190lbs spot on. Thus, timing is ok. I will play with the tune.

B motors do not make as much HP as the other motors because of the balancer.

Fatboys are supposed to be slow cause they look so good. Who wants to be seen on a Dyna anyways.

Well said. It's always great to see how good they look when I blow pat them on the old FXDL.
