Default "Breaking the chains Across Texas"-Bikers Against Child Abuse-

Who wants to make a great Ride from San Antonio, or Temple, to Austin, tx and party when we get there?

We will have 2 starting points, in the north- Horny Toad Harley in Temple, Tx; in the South- Alamo Harley, San Antonio,tx..... all roads lead to Cowboy Harley Davidson in Austin, Tx!!!! That's where the Party will be!... Complete with BIKINI BIKE WASH, LIVE BANDS, ETC.

There will breakfast at the starting point and the, and lunch provided in Austin.

We will shutdown the interstate, and move HUNDREDS of bikes from point A to point B, IN STYLE! When the party ends at HD, it will continue somewhere else in town!

I personally did the First annual breaking the Chains ride, Last year. It was awesome! It was the first year, and had a few hundred bikes. This year promises to be larger, and better!

If you don't know who BACA is, what we do, or why; check out the website---"bacaworld.org"---

Or, use a simple google search. There is tons of info out there.

Put simply, we make Bad dreams go away!
We turn victims into kids again!

Trust me, you want to check us out!

BACA Mission Statement

Bikers Against Child Abuse (BACA) exists with the intent to create a safer environment for abused children. We exist as a body of Bikers to empower children to not feel afraid of the world in which they live. We stand ready to lend support to our wounded friends by involving them with an established, united organization. We work in conjunction with local and state officials who are already in place to protect children. We desire to send a clear message to all involved with the abused child that this child is part of our organization, and that we are prepared to lend our physical and emotional support to them by affiliation, and our physical presence. We stand at the ready to shield these children from further abuse. We do not condone the use of violence or physical force in any manner, however, if circumstances arise such that we are the only obstacle preventing a child from further abuse, we stand ready to be that obstacle.

Motorcyclists are already viewed negatively by Joe Public. I35 is one of the nation's most congested, in that area, and your association wants to shut it down w bikes?

Yep that's the idea!!!

Have you ever done an escorted ride?

We do this with the help/approval of Police, close down a lane or 2, and funnel all bikes from Point A, to Point B.... It's been done before, many times, and certainly not just by us...

Have I been on escorted rides? Hmmm. Depends on what defines "escort" as we dont involve the police or attempt to "shut down" traffic.

Thanks for clarifying its only "a lane or 2" and not really a shutdown.

Good luck w the benefit. I went to the first one in Central Texas about 2001 at the Capitol w Danno as he introduced the organization to Texas.

Well if you know Danno, than you already know what we are all about!

Of course, we aren't going to just park our bikes across the interstate, and stop all traffic. Not only, would that draw bad attention, it would draw cops, writing tickets.

We do it with their permission, but do the blocking, ourselves. Last year, they met us in Austin, and blocked the road to help us get off the exit at Austin.

Howcome you Busting my chops, Anyhow?

Sounds like a great cause...

I think it is just poor wording that can create a potential negative attitude "shutdown the interstate"

You guys are going to be super popular with the I35 crowd in between Temple and Austin. That road is congested enough, full of raging cagers, heavy traffic and now you're going to block them? Good luck and I hope no one gets hurt.

Wow, ok... So, maybe I didn't choose words correctly...

I think a few people here are too sensitive...

Bottom line, we will "shutdown" a couple lanes of traffic, and travel from Point A to Point B. I am not posting here to get anyone's "approval or permission," but rather to invite, each and biker within a reasonable distance. If any of you wish to show up, GREAT! I'd be glad to meet any of you. If you don't wish to show up, don't.

Taygull, it is a great cause, do a little research on us.... I see you are in Texas. I can almost certainly say, there is a chapter near you!

The below link, is to a news story, I just ran across. It is from Nebraska, but BACA operates, the same here as it does there...

This is probably one of the best articles I have found about BACA. There are a few places that the journalist has taken a few liberties, but for the most part a very accurate depiction of how BACA works.
