Default 1961 Duo Glide Panhead

I have recently became obsessed by the old panheads. I saw an article on a '64 and started searching for a '61 as that is the year I was born.

I currently have an '06 Deluxe which will be my main rider, but would love to consider finding a '61 Duo for Sunday rides, hopping around town, etc.

Any advise, cautions, suggestions, insight, etc. that I may want to consider before I start getting serious about finding one?

Thanks in advance, really appreciate any thoughts!

I was just at a small town in Ohio this past Saturday and ran into a guy riding a yellow '61 Duo Glide. He said that he is the original owner. I thought he added the horn but I see that must have been original equipment from the picture above. He really did seem happy with it. I could tell he was mighty proud of it.

When you see one for less than $10,000 then you know it has been chopped, bobbed and more or less messed with. For better or worse and I'm serious as some customization is plain cool. When you're over twenty grand you can expect a real restoration and a beauty too.
I hate other people's strokers as I just don't trust them.

Be super duper careful with titles and cases, top ends and their correct bottoms. Harley vins were off the engines until 1970 after hat then they went to the frames.
