My dealer gets $54 a set. Hogpro's deal on Lyndall's sounds great.

A lot of good useful information here. I just wanted to know the difference and some of you provided facts I wanted to hear, just like scooby636 above. I'm convinced that spending the extra money on better pads equates to longevity and holds up to higher temperatures, etc. Things I wouldn't have known had I not posted this thread. Time to stretch open my wallet a little wider.

I use EBC Kevlar organics on my dyna because it has polished rotors and they are not as abrasive. Stopping is ok but the pads wear quickly.

On my Street Glide I use MOCO pads. While they are a little spendy, they perform well and last well. My rear pads lasted a little over 16,000 miles and the fronts are still better than half there so I expect the rear will be a two to one ratio (one set of fronts for every two sets of rears).

Another vote for Lyndall Z pads. I get 3 times the mileage from them vs the stock HD pads, better stopping power and no brake dust.

Unfortunately, our suppliers in all retail markets lately have gone out of their way to disprove the "higher cost equals better supplies". All companies have move to increase profit and cut cost. The OP is wise to ask if a lower priced item would function in a similar manner as a higher priced one. Hell, for all he knows they were made on the same Chinese assembly line and packaged differently.

For all "your life is worth $50 comments" are really put of place here. What was asked for was a performance review of an off-brand item. Too many of the replies sounded like opinion based on suspicion rather than experience.

Two of the most important parts of your bike are tires and brakes. You want to save a few dollars on cheap ,fake Chinese garbage?
Well then,be sure to check out the fake Chinese tools @ your neighborhood Harbor Crap and garbage store!! I bet you can save money there too.

Whenever I see claims of much greater mileage from a particular brand of pad (and I am not disputing the claim) I have to wonder... something has to be wearing, and if it's not the pad ("no brake dust") it must be the rotor (right?).

And I've often wondered about the "better stopping power". If I can lock up the wheels on my Deluxe with stock pads, what's "better"? Unless perhaps the reference is to better fade resistance (which I've never experienced as a serious problem with stock pads).

FWIW, with one exception I have used stock HD pads on every Harley I've owned; tried another brand some years ago, don't remember the name right now. I do remember that they were less expensive, but also that the life wasn't what I expected.

The current stock pads are made by Brembo (along with pretty much the rest of the system). Brembo are one of the best brake manufacturers operating today. Think I'll trust my life to them...
