what I underlned is so often the case. Good point. People are either so scared of riding that they comment with the "what's your life worth?" or I am not buyimng anything unless its expensive or name brand uppity, that it is almost comical...

These are all I run on my personal bikes. The last much longer, make less dust, and stop well. Do they cost more? Yes, but they last 3 times as long therefore the cost is actually less than the stock pads. I sell these for $40 a set as opposed to the $50 with free shipping in the continental US.

All this talk and nobody knows which "unknown" brand of brake pads the OP is referring to. If the OP is a newb, EVERY brand of brake pads may be unknown to him. I run Harley pads on my Road King and have no complaints. I ran Ferrodo pads on one of my Beemers and they worked great. The SBS pads on my BMW K bike work well but leave lots of dust. Just run a search on the name of the product you're considering and if it's any good, you'll read about it.
