Default Low Fuel Warning Light

I thought I'd check out the Low Fuel Warning Light just to see how accurate the warning is on my 2007 RKC. I ran it until the light came on and then drove another 3 miles to the closest station. It took 4.8 gallons to fill up. That's cutting it pretty damn close don't you think?

I hate to rant and rave about my Harley, but I don’t know why they can not make a decent fuel gauge. I understand that the float output is linear and the geometry of the tank is not uniform, but with the onboard computer, this can be compensated for. On my 06 RKC I filled up the other day with 4.5 gallons and the light still had not come on.

That's why I start thinking about refueling at 175 miles on the odometer.

My '05 FLSTSCI light comes on at 3.5 gallons. I always use the "B" odometer to be safe...........

Same for me...I've had the light come on, go off then come back on again. Sometimes at half tank sometimes at 1/8 tank left. Unreliable. Ire-set the odometer every fill.
