Default Fork oil leak ??

Saw a film of oil on the left side of front fender, tank , primary and down tube. Dealer said it was loose fork nut, tighten it up and rode it home no problems/oil splatter. Today after a short ride, same problem light film of oil on fender, tank and primary, very light oil film on fork tubes. Held the brake and compressed forks hard can't find oil leaking...any ideas , safe to ride it back to dealer?

A loose FORK NUT causing a leak??!

I'd find a dealer that knows what they are doing.

Check for steering head bearing grease running across triple trees and down fork tubes.

Time for a new fork seal on that side.

Yes dealer said they found loose fork nut , they tightened it up and it stayed dry til yesterday. Are you saying loose fork nut would not cause leak? Wiped it all down and just took short ride no leak??! Getting me crazy

Depending on what kind of bike it is, yes, a loose fork nut located at the top of the fork tube, will leak. When the forks compress, the oil will seep out around the threads. Don't sound to me as though that's your problem if they tightened it and you still show signs of a leak. What kind of bike, year, and milage? If it were me, I'd just redo my fork seals. Maybe bushings as well, depending on the milage on them.

I'd replace the top seal. Depending on the year of the bike, it's either a rubber washer or o-ring.

Sorry guys should have included some info, bike is a 2010 fatboy 8300 miles. I know that's very low mileage and I don't think I hit any deep pot holes or anything else that would blow out a seal.
