GOOD LORD !! Really ?
Stopped in the local dealer today to see what it would cost to have some apes put on. I saw the ones I wanted for $250.00 so I figured what the h311 I save myself the headache, and let them do it. Plus I'm not the best tool man.
There quote.........."Uhm, starting around $1200-$1300.00".
I almost fell over !! They said it's about a 10 hour job. Is it really ?

Ha! It took me maybe 3 hours and I'd never done it before. I'm not gonna say it was fun by any means, but I don't think I'd pay any amount of money to do something I can do in my garage.

Don't kid yourself...it's a big job. My nephew put on a set a couple of years ago and he told me it took the better part of a day and he would never do it again. He knows his way around a shop.
Maybe talk to your local indy?

It can be time consuming but not really all that difficult. 10 hours is about the average I have seen dealers charge. A lot depends on what bike what bars do you need cables and wires extended. Materials wise you are not just buying the bars if you get bars that to tall. Once you buy throttle and idle cables, clutch cable, wiring extension, and poly bushings it adds up in a hurry. I got my ape's for 275 and went with Magnum Shielding for cables, iirc the total when I was done was around 750-800 bucks and I did it myself so there is no labor in that total.

If you take your time it will take you 6-8 hours. Now that I have done it I could probably cut that in about half. The hardest part for me was taking apart the wiring harness, so you can feed the wires through the bars.
Get a book, take your time and do it.

Fonzie wouldn't do anything!
Fonzie was / is terrified of motor cycles!
He never actually rode a motorcycle ever. Hell they switched from a Harley to a Triumph in the second season because it was smaller and they hoped it wouldn't freak him out as badly.
