had a crappy ride today
So It was threatening to rain all day but I was bored at home so I said screw it I'm going for a ride. So I put some rain gear in my back pack and head out.
The ride started out great, perfect temperature and I was having such a good time. But 60 miles into the ride I'm in the middle of nowhere doing about 70 when the *** end starts to go all over the place. I immediately slow down and look down to see that my rear tire is flat. This is the second one since I bought my bike a year ago. About 30 miles away from any civilization, and no cell phone reception. I had no choice but to limp it to the closest town so I can park it and decide what I'm going to do.
So after an hour of riding no faster than 30 mph and getting more pissed by the second I get to a gas station and go in and buy a can of fix a flat (didn't expect it to work but worth a shot). Well it didn't work but luckily there was a very nice guy that offered me a ride back to Abilene. So I got home and was able to get a hold of some friends that have a truck and we went to pick up my bike.
I finally got it home safe but it sucks that I won't be able to ride for a while until I have the funds to get a new tire. I figured I could get another couple thousand miles out of it so I was already saving to get it replaced but it will be at least a few weeks before I can. I'm so bummed. But at least it didn't cause me to wreck and I have good friends that helped get the bike home so I can sleep tonight haha.

They should pay me for this. I have had too many flats (rear) and this chit is the bees knees. Just do it and thank me later. This should be made a sticky. Read the yada yada and watch the video. If that doesn't help ya ain't no help for ya.

Yeah I hope so too. I took it real easy and kept an eye on it the whole time and the wheel never touched the pavement but I don't know if there could have been any other damage done to the inside or anything.

I had a flat a couple of months ago on my 95 Heritage. I noticed the rear tire was flat while I was at a convenience store only two miles from home. I ended up bringing it to the dealer in my trailer a few days later. Needless to say I was stunned by the total being $420. I have since found an independent shop that I feel comfortable with. The only thing that made me feel better was it was a very large nail that went through the tread at an angle that allowed it to also puncture the sidewall.

I had a similar situation on Saturday...blasting down the highway, my rear brake caliper decided to drag the rotor...heat things up, and lock her up. Sat on the side of the road for around an hour...first waiting for it to cool...to see if it would let go. Knocking it, bleeding it, finally decided it would not let go so I removed the hole rear caliper and rode her home on side roads with only a front brake.
Anyways...stuff like this, stories to tell of making it home, bonding with the bike.

As long as you have tubeless tires on the bike you should carry one of these. I do and will never go back to tubed tires!!

If you have a spoked rear wheel, and the tire has more life left in it, throw a new tube in it and ride it . Inflate a flat won't work on a tubed tire. A new tube is way cheaper then a new tire.,,
