Default Ignition vs kill switch

I was taught to always use the kill switch when turning a bike off.

When starting it's always ignition on, hands on the grips, clutch lever in, bike in neutral, run/stop switch to run, fuel pump cycle complete and all lights off, engage starter...

When shutting down it's clutch lever in, run/stop switch to stop, ignition off.

I see a lot of guys that never use the "kill switch"...

After last night, and seeing a friend turn on his ignition only to have the bike start jumping forward as the starter engaged due to a short in his starter button, thought I'd ask...which do you use, and why?

I never use the kill switch, only the ignition switch.

Never use the kill switch...... best purpose for it is to embarrass the operator when he forgets to turn it on and can not start his motorcycle in front of a crowd.

The main purpose of the kill switch as the last emergency thing to hit on your way over the handlebars. Either that, or to test your balance when you miss the right turn signal and hit it with your big clumsy thumb by mistake.
Hope you never need it for that.

If you don't use the kill switch, it is that much easier to forget to turn off the ignition switch. Then when you get back to your bike, you have a dead battery.

If you use it every time you shut off the bike, you will never accidentally hit it because you will know what it does. JMHO after using it to shut off the bike all these years.

Kill switch for me... then ignition switch. If I forget the ignition switch I'm screwed.

Always use the kill switch, that's what it is for. Never have forgotten how to turn motor on and off.

Ignition switch most of time. If starts jumpin' around when I turn it on, I guess I'm screwed.
