Obviously, this comes as a shock, as he's barely had time to break it in. But with this Pope's renewed focus on charity, some folks are speculating he just wanted to take the depreciation hit for a member of the flock.

The Harley-Davidson motorcycle given to Pope Francis by Harley aficionados who had rallied to the Vatican over the summer is headed for the auction block. The pontiff, who has been vocal about his rejection of flashy possessions, had spoken to the bikers assembled at St. Peter’s Square in June about the dangers of “fleeting human idols which offer the intoxication of a flash of freedom, but in the end bring new forms of slavery and death,” and will be selling his Hog to benefit a charity hostel and soup kitchen near Rome’s Termini Station.
