Default Wick type tire repair???

Anyone used a "wick" type tire repair kit on their Dunlop tires? I have a small nail in my rear that is leaking about 6lbs per day and was just curious. I have no experience with a repaired MC tire. Have a couple of thousand left on this tire and hope to salvage.

Thanks

Yup! As long as its a tubeless rear tire you'll be fine. I had a nail in my brand new (less than 200 miles!) tire on the back of my FXST and I rode it til it was bald without a single issue.

A properly plugged tire will easily make it until replacement. I've been plugging tires for almost 40 years on all makes, models of bikes and have never had one fail.

FYI... when plugging a tire, make sure you ream the hole with a file/rasp (most plug kits include this) to roughen it up real good. Then take some rubber cement and spread it into and over the hole, then plug. The roughness of the hole along with the rubber cement helps the plug vulcanize to the tire rubber. Then ride the **** out of your bike and get the tire good and hot so the plug will flatten out and you'll be good to go until replacement.

My current tire was purchased two years ago...

Got a U-shaped fence staple (?) in it at just about 120 miles after it was installed. Plugged it and went on a 1600 mile ride, no problems. It's time to be replaced now, but I'm stretching it out a bit, and it's almost bald. Over 9,000 miles on it. It leaks a bit now, and I have to air it up about once every two weeks. Not sure if the plug is the existing leak or not. Just gonna run it til I change it. No worries!

When I had a nail in the rear tire on my 99 FXSTC, I got one of those Stop & Go tire plugging kits. They have a tool that installs a mushroom headed plug that works really well. I have put 9,000 miles on that tire since I plugged it and no problems. I have 17,000 miles on my Dunlop 402 tires now, but they don't have much tread left. I will probably change them before they get completely bald.
