Default Is this a good deal??

Stopped by the local dealer for their open house today and our sales guy showed us a 2013 Fat Boy in the red and merlot that they used as a demo bike. It only has 412 miles on it with full factory warrentee. They will sell it to us for $16900. The 2014 on the floor is tagged at $19900. And they will give us $3400 for our 2008 883 low that has 4600 miles on it. It sure seems like a good deal, but wanted to see what you guys thought. I am not real good at wheeling and dealing.

So, they are offering a used 2013 at the MSRP of new. They have their 2014 listed at more than 2K over MSRP. I would think you could do better but I don't have all the facts. I also don't know the true value of your trade in. If you are happy with the deal. go for it.

You are losing $1200 on the trade in versus sell it yourself price, seems reasonable.

I love beating up dealers. Go get approved for an $11,000 loan at your credit union and offer them $11,000 OTD and tell them the only paper you will sign is the title. Or make them throw in the best extended warranty because you know people thrash the chit out of demo bikes, AND a $500 gift card for cool HD riding gear you want to buy in store. Slap them around a little, see what it gets ya, just dont lay down bro!

Even with that deal they are making some money.

Forget what the 2014 is listed at - it has no bearing on anything. Do your research......MSRP on the 2013 is within a couple hundred bucks (with freight and crap it is $17189 according to what I found) of what they're offering to sell it to you for. That's no deal. Local dealer here was selling 2013's at $2013 off MSRP, no matter the model. Your dealer's got lots of room to move.
