Default American Suspension Rip off merchants.

I'm just warning anybody who intends to purchase a front end from Ted at American Suspension to do so at your own peril. In August last year I bought a Black Dragon Springer front end for my 2010 Wide Glide and paid $2,500 US to buy it and have it shipped to me in Australia. It was pricey but I thought I was buying a quality product. Not being super handy on the spanner, I spent another $2,500 to have it fitted and it did look good. For about 4 or 5 months. Then all the chrome started flaking off. I mean really flaking off. I took it to a chrome plater and he looked at it and told me it was one of the cheapest Chinese chrome jobs he'd ever seen and that there was zero copper under the chrome and it was always going to flake off. To cut a long story short I contacted Ted and sent him the pics. He didn't want to know about it and after a couple of e-mails stopped responding at all. It cost me another $2,800 to have it pulled apart, re-chromed and re-fitted. My advice is DO NOT buy from American Suspension. Their chrome is rubbish and there after sales service is worse.

Don't insult the Chinese like that, they do better at chrome than the company you bought from...so it seems.

Sorry to hear about your experience.

WOW, that is crap plating work and at that price it's understandable to see why you're so frustrated. Guessing you're still fighting with the vendor, or is it a wash?

That's pretty bad. I would post in all the Harley forums you can and send him a link to each post. Maybe knowing that he is getting a bad rep in all the HD forums will help.

I'm curious to know what he is saying and why he's not standing behind his product. Unless he knows it's crap.

You live on the coast around heavy salt air or fog ? cause I'm seeing a lot of salt pitting going on there and some of that chrome like the second & 4th picture looks like stress flaking . I see that a lot on bikes in San Francisco that don't get a bath regular the salt air environment raises hell with shiny stuff .

seems like a lot of money wasted. foolish. 1/3 the price of a new bike. Im sure many will cheer you on.. money goes to more important things for me. if it meant more to you you would have looked into this more or thought it out. sorry it bit you in the ***.

I sleep at the time you guys are awake so I havent been awake to answer your Q's but As far as living on the coast goes 90% of us do here in Australia but I've had 6 Harley's before this and nothing like this. All the original Harley chrome on the bike is still perfect. I will be publishing on all the forums and sending him a link. Great idea.
