Built in 1934 to compete with the British JAP and Rudge speedway racers, the Harley-Davidson CAC is an extremely rare motorcycle with only 9 known to still exist. Like a lot of Harley's history, there's an interesting story behind it with multiple beginnings and endings.

Do you happen to know - was "cinder track" racing the precursor to today's "dirt track"/"flat track" racing? The AMA sponsors a national circuit of flat track races - in fact, I think the final is (was?) in California this month. Always wanted to catch one of those.

The pictures appear to show him in leather pants, leather gloves & a cotton or wool shirt.
I wonder what kind of road burn a cinder track offered?
