Default Need help on my '07 Sporty. Rear taillight electrical problem.

My brake lights are having an issue on my '07 Sporty. First off I have the BAL1 and the HD running/brake/turn module. I also have a 80/100 watt headlight.*

The tail light (and rear running light) works as it should. The problem is that the brake lights don't work. They don't work when I use either the front or rear brake.*

Here's what I've done: I've returned the bike back to it's stock configuration and removed the headlight. Meaning I put back the stock tail light and removed the running/brake/turn module. I also replaced all the 15 amp fuses with new ones. There are no frayed or pinched wires from the tail light running under the rear fender. None of that had any effect. The rear tail light stays on but the brake light won't come on. And after removing the module the turn signals. Returned back to the stock turn signal use.

I have no idea what it could be causing it. My only two guesses is the ECU or both the front brake lever and rear brake actuators are shot. But what are the chances they'd both go?*

Any suggestions? Thanks.*

Isn't there a brake light relay in the fuse box? Maybe it went bad.

I'm thinking maybe the bulb. The tail light is a dual-filament bulb. Maybe one of the filaments burned out. Let us know!

I checked the front brake switch inside the lever housing. No dice. So now my guess is it could be the rear switch behind the rear master cylinder. I took it off but don't know how to test it. I tacked it back on as there was a drip of brake fluid. Which probably means I'll need to bleed the rear brakes. Crap!

I can't really tell if the brake light is in to on or off position. I doubt it's a turn signal bulb.

Yes, in my OP I did mention that.

Start with the simple stuff. Bulbs cause weird things.

Remove the bulb and check with a volt ohm meter. If you don't have one you can pick one up pretty cheap but you get what you pay for. I have an el cheapo and a Fluke. Buddy was at the house day before yesterday and needed a meter. Found my cheap one and it was giving weird readings. Found the Fluke and learned he had a broken wire. Got him a new lug and crimpers and he was good to go. This was not related to your brake light issue but thought it should be mentioned. Always start at the source of the problem.

I changed a bulb and though I was on the right track. That was until I plugged back in and tried to button up the rear brake switch. Then I was back to square one. I'm guessing it's the switch.
