Importance of wrap-around eye protection?
Noob here. How important is wrap-around eye protection? Would regular frames with shatter-proof lenses be OK? Because of my presbyopia (both near- and far-sighted), that would make things a lot easier. I can understand that there might be some issues with the wind making the eyes water, but if the frames were big enough, would that still be a problem?

I wear regular glasses. But I have a fairing. I use a FF shield or goggles that fit over my glasses for rain, buggy days. Main problem with regular glasses is bugs.

I wear prescription glasses. I run with a windshield most of the time. When running without the ws my eyes will water at about 25mph. Wrap around glasses will cure the watery eye problem and there less apt to go flying off when you turn your head

I wear the same as you normal frameless glasses with shatter proof and reactor light lenses, never had a problem other than the odd bit of cold air coming in from the side occasionally, wrap around would give you more protection, not sure wether you can get prescription lenses in those though.

I never ride without sunglasses. They are all wrap around usually from Target as they have a huge selection and are seldom over twenty bucks. I have no complaints about their quality and if I need to replace a pair it is because I have lost them.
I like wrap around as I am constantly checking my blind spot while on my bike.

Safety glasses from work, wrap around in clear, tint and sunglass. Not bad looking and extremely cheap and safe.

I prefer goggles, you can get them to slip over your own glasses.
The issue isn't really just bugs or cold air, it's road debris that's kicked up by vehicles in front of you, semis going the other direction, road hazards, dusty winds and the high wind eye flutter blurring your vision as you go down the road.
Nothing worse than having your vision effected while holding your life in your own hands going down the road. Regular glasses have no enclosed protection and will even fly off your face if you look sideways at the wrong moment.
Then there's the day riding in bright sun with it in your face, the dawn and dusk effect, and night time riding. I have dark ones for daytime, yellow ones for dusk and dawn, and clear for nighttime. Never had good luck with "solar" lenses. They often stay a lot darker in nighttime, and never seem to be as effective in sunlight.
