tires
i have an 01 fatboy.....i have a never used front tire (dunlop) but it is 10 yrs old.....is it still safe to use? it is not dry rotted or anything, is in perfect condition, but i have heard that the ''stickyness'' may not be there anymore ,the compound may be too old? anyone with opinion on this?

Personally, I would not use the tire.
I believe the general consensus is that tires older than 6 years old should be replaced regardless of tread wear. The tires can look new but the rubber compound can degrade with time.
When I purchase new tires for all of my vehicles, I will ask to see the DOT identification number on the tires so I know when they were manufactured.

No can do!
I know that the tire has degraded over time whether it was in the shop or whatever! Tire rubber dries out and some tires do so faster than others. I.E. weather checking. I have actually ran durometer tests and found soft tires to harden up over the winter in a heated shop. I used to have to wrap up my racing slicks every winter to maintain the air seal over the winter so they would be usable the next spring..at least for engine breaking in and the like.
I would not use this tire after that long...no way, no how. IMHO it is dangerous to do so.
