Feuling or Wood Carbs...both replace the rear flat chain with the roller chain. I haven't done mine yet though. I'm going with gears.

I used the stock 2007 up plate. I didn't over think it. It had to be better than the old stuff. The entire kit including my choice of Andrews cams was around 7 bills.

If it's an early TC88, I would recommend gear drives. Did the entire swap for less that $800.00 and never have to worry about it again as I plan on keeping this bike for a long time.

Wear on tennsioner with roller chain (96'' motors,. The side plates will wear the tennsioners till the rollers make contact, Then they should last a long long time.

Pic of Roller chain, Notice a roller in the middle of the chain.

Pic of linked chain and how they wear the tennsioners on the TC 88''ers. Notice NO rollers, they just RUB all the time.

NO rollers in the chain on the 88''s to roll over the tennsioners like the 96''ers and the Hyd system puts less pressure on them.

Now U see why the new system is lasting longer in most cases.

I used the 96" cam plate (2007-up), chains, tensioners, gears, and oil pump, with conversion cams. Very happy with this set-up.

The SE plate only fixes half of the problems, and the Fueling or Woods cam plates are prohibitively expensive.
