Default Sampson ripsaws vs v&h big shots

I have the big shot staggered pipes now and like them but I like the look of the ripsaws better. I have a few concerns...... First is since they have no crossover like the big shots I would think they would make even less power and also want to know what ones sound good I here's there's many types of ripsaws.... I here there's some with baffles and some without?

I had a set of Rip Saws on my old Night Train for a while. I wouldn't recommend them. They are extremely loud. I mean to say that they literally will set off a car alarm.

Mine had no baffles and I got rid of them when I did an engine build.

I put a pair of Samson Ripsaws on my ex's Sportster.
Beside the chrome coming off in large sections on the mounting plates on them, they sounded great.
Like a truck's Jake brake when the throttle was let off quickly.

Baffle-less pipes are really hard on anyone that rides to Ur right or behind U also.

Son had V&H's BR 2-2's on a Duece He had back in 07.. Those pipes, even with stock baffles. Really hurt my ears when he got on it when I was to his right or in back of him.

IMO there's loud, LOUD, then OBNOXIOUS, pipes.
The latter is what's causing some many non riders to Complain about the noise. Mostly made by Non-baffled pipes.

Also too loud of pipes will cause permanent ear damage. Lot of younger guys don't care, but its not fun to have Ur ears ring 24-7..

Just so U can hear what Tinnitus sounds like..
http://www.ata.org/sounds-of-tinnitus

I have tinnitus and played no 2 above. the 7500 Hz.. even with the video volume turned up all the and my main computer speakers at 60%. I still can't hear it over the constant ringing in my ears.

Its 7am here and I know the video must be working cause the wife just hollowed "What's that noise?? it woke her up, and I am out in the living room and her door is shut.

That's what I hear all the time with tinnitus.

Just hope this post helps someone from getting permanent ear damage.

I had the Ripsaws on my FXDX; loved the hell outta' them. And yes, they were loud. Changed to a 2-1 when I put on a big bore kit though...
