turning engine over

turning engine over
I just got done doing my cam swap. I would like to just use the starter to turn the engine over to try to circulate some oil without starting the engine. I believe I read somewhere that you shouldn't crank the bike over without the plugs being grounded due to possible ECM damage. Can I just crank it over without the plugs in the boot or do I have to put them in the boots and ground them somehow?

the best way to do that is (1) take plugs out of the cylinder install in the spark plug wire ground the plug using a wire with 2 alligator clips on it, one hooked to the plug electrode the other to the motor.
(2) remove plugs from motor install in spark plug wire and lay plug on the cylinder head and use a little duct tape to hold it in place.
(3) use some wire with a alligator clip on each end install one into the spark plug wire where the plug goes and clip the other end to the engine. I would still take the plugs out for easer cranking.
Any of these ways will work fine, one is not better then the other.

If its fuel injected....pull the fuel pump fuse, or disconnect the fuel supply line.
Or as stated above, just pull the plug leads off the plugs.
