Best Raingear
#11
I have a ripstop nylon suit light weight, packs small. great for light to moderate rain. For really heavy I have a Harley nylon taffeta. Doesn't pack as small and is heavier but it has kept me dry in so real down pours. The value of good gear lasts long after the joy of saveing a few dollars is forgotton....or something like that. no regrets.

The best one is the one you have with you when you need it.
got mine 7yrs ago from the dealer, and its worked every time I've needed it and still is in great condition.

I have an old (15 yrs.) First Gear that I wore through hurricane Lily in Mississippi around 2002 or 3. And again in the tropical storm that whacked Americade last year. Downside is it did not have heat shields so there's some duct tape on the right leg. Been there for years. It's also heavy and hot but that's why it's lasted through so many storms.
I don't like Frogg Toggs because they melt and will catch fire near an open flame, just ask my wife. But if you ride in heat and high humidity like the Gulf coast they are most comfortable.
A riding buddy had the Tour Master sentinel model at Americade and I was very impressed. Light with mesh interior and vents and hood. He stayed dry and I have been looking for a set myself. The H-D high-Viz had some bad reviews for a couple of years from the stitching. I do like the looks and the problem is said to be fixed. They even have a date to buy after to avoid that problem.
My next suit will be either the Tour Master or H-D high-viz. While I like the idea of the vents I would not choose that for an unfaired bike.

I just recently did extensive research on rainsuits and found the majority on this forum seem to prefer the Harley Viz that retails for about $185.00 and comes with a 90 day warranty. I ended up going with the Nelson Riggs Aston 3000 Hi Viz that retails for $89.99 and comes with a 2 year warranty. This rainsuit comes with all the features as the Harley and then some. I used the Nelson Riggs sizing chart and it was spot on. I also read the recent review that Ryder magazine did and it gave the Nelson Riggs high marks. For gloves I ordered the Hugger waterproof leather gloves that retail for $46.00.

I don't know if it's the best, but it keeps me dry & that's good enough for me.
