I used the Nelson Riggs sizing chart and it was spot on. I also read the recent review that Ryder magazine did and it gave the Nelson Riggs high marks. For gloves I ordered the Hugger waterproof leather gloves that retail for $46.00.
Excellent post. While I like my HD Hi Viz gear, I do think I paid too much for it and suspected that other, similar gear, would be just as good and cheaper. I was in a situation though where shopping around was not an option (my cheap rain gear failed in the middle of a tour and I needed something quick).

I am not unhappy with my HD gear though and do not regret my purchase (I needed on several occasions later), but it is this kind of information that you provided that makes this forum more than just a diversion.

Thanks!

I'm using Icon raingear in hi vis orange. It works really well for keeping me dry in pounding rain. I have found that riding ALL DAY in the rain, it will eventually seep in and my clothes will be damp.

The reviews are awful on that link you provided. I had an OLD set of HD gear that was great...But it's kind of worn out after 8 years. I also had a set of Nelson-Rigg Storm Riders that were crap. Leaked from the start and the stirrups tore on the first trip.

so does anyone have that "Xelement 2-piece Bone Dry Black/Neon Orange Rainsuit" that appears to the HD HiVis with no logo ? The price is right if it keeps you dry ..... too high if you're sitting in a wet suit

The Harley Hi-Viz suit has worked well for me, but I've started using waterproof gear which not only keeps me drier, but will offer some protection should the worst happen. I rode through a tropical storm last June in AD-1 pants and an Olympia Moab jacket and stayed amazingly warm and dry.

thanks everyone, in case you want to know, the cheapies hold up to the elements they just are very difficult to get on and off. You must remove your boots, which by the way is the only part that leaked, but that is because I prefer laces. The suits I am referring to are like the ones you see the man wearing on the box of Gorton's fish sticks.

My favourite is my Ford Expedition.
Sorry, couldn't resist.
Actually my HD hi-vis does a decent job.
