Default Fair price on used vrsc?

I'm looking at a 2008 v rod with 5k miles at the local hd dealer, asking $12k. Credit union says it's only worth about $9,800, they sent me the print screen of their numbers. I checked nada and average price ten and change, so I'm thinking offering $12k OTD. I know the dealer has a ridiculous dealer fee of about $500, so I figure let them massage their fee in there by lowering the price on the bike and we might be able to be at the $12k. Is that too much to ask? Thoughts?

Vrods don't bring big bux in my area nor do they online from what i've seen.
Don't get insulted but why would you consider paying more than book on a bike thats not even remotely a collectors item?
Do yourself a favor and seriously shop.
This took me all of two seconds. 10k or best offer

I agree with the previous post, don't let the dealer over charge you. Stay by the book figures and be patient, the dealer should come down on his figures. Sure he has a low milage bike but it's not like it is in demand like a street glide. My feeling has always been if I'm going to pay premium price for any kind of vehicle I better have no intentions of trading or selling in the near future. Good luck.

Please don't take this the wrong way but its a V-Rod, a niche bike. If you like it you'll pay for it. They do not bring big money & really shouldn't be selling for that much of a mark up.

Most dealers I know push them off the lot as quickly as they know there is a buyer. Slashing price, cutting a deal whatever it takes to move it off the lot.

It your money spend it as you see fit, but there are seriously better deals out there for V-Rods.

Just bought the wife a new 2014 night rod (no abs no security) otd for $14k (6% sales tax and 5 year extended warranty included). Doesn't sound like much of a deal.

Wow. What state?

Im going to swing by sunday and look at their two options again:
The 2008, 5k miles and a 2012 with exhaust and 2k miles for $14k.

We talked today i told him $12k otd on the 2008 and they called me back with $12.8k otd. Now I'm thinking of the 2012 with exhaust, less miles and four years newer. Lol
