Default You've got to be kidding me!?!?!

OK, 7000 mi on my glide's tires, and I am about to leave on a 2500 mile trip through urban areas where I need good tires, so I thought what the hey, maybe I splurge and spring for a new set front and rear... So I cruise down to HD to get a quote for out the door for front and rear...

$750!?!?!?!? YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME.... IT'S 2 DAMNED MOTORCYCLE TIRES FOR CRYING OUT LOUD! STOP TELLING ME TO STOP YELLING QUIT CALLING ME SIR I DON'T CARE IF CUSTOMERS ARE STARING! OK OK I'M LEAVING CALM DOWN.... sheesh....

I'm sorry, that is just insane for a set of motorcycle tires ...

....I, personally, am boycotting that right there...

LOL - it is pretty funny. You can't be surprised by this - you've been a member here since 2006. How many threads have you seen on this very topic?

Order a set from Dennis Kirk, pull the wheels, drop 'em off at an Indy, and save about 50%.

Oh yeah, they are supposed to just give them to you since you bought a bike right. I totally forgot.

So when you yelled and made a spectacle of yourself did they lower the price?

check around a couple of dealers, some have 'install' specials. my local dealer runs a $1.00 installation per tire if you buy it from them. makes it not quite so painful.

depending on what kind of 'glide' you have, 7000 may be way early for new tires. on my 2010 rgc, i replaced both front and back at 20,000 miles, only because they were cupped and we were getting ready to leave on a long trip and i wanted to do it on new rubber.

but if you've got a fairly new street or roadglide, hd has you over a barrel. there is only one tire available and it comes from the dealer.

So let me get this straight: you are totally ok with the damned moco charging $3/4K for 2 stupid *** motorcycle tires? People! The emperor has no clothes - that is insane! Have we lost control of our senses? I paid less than that for 4 Firestone tires for my 4X4! There is enough rubber in those 4 tires to build 20 motorcycle tires.

And yes, I have the same stack of parts supply catalogs everyone else has and I know I can get them cheaper - the question is: how many people are lining up like freaking sheep outside the dealer door to pay that for tires?

OK rant over. I deserve a rant every now and then and I just gave myself one. Peace.

edited to add: local CycleGear dealer has Dunlop American Elites $240 rear $150 front $20 m&b. case closed bye

I never buy big ticket items from the stealership. There are just too many Indys out there with better deals and quality.
