That is being sold as a "fixer upper" as-is, no warranty, high miles. At $4995 you should be able to do better. In fact, RUN AWAY from this deal. FIXER UPPER!! what does that mean?

I'm glad my 08 1200C doesn't look no where's near that bad.

Sounds like you are happy just shopping retail at the closest dealer. If you have lots of money to blow, that's as good a way as any, I guess.

Far as exhaust, you can pickup a complete, stock exhaust for under $100.

A year ago I paid $3800 for my '06 with 24k mi.

The deal is they are taking in my Suzuki GZ250, I still owe a little bit probably blue book value and they will take the trade, and just payoff my loan. I did saw the bike when we drove up there to look at it, the one I like was an 2008 white gold 883 sportster with just 1300+ miles but I can't afford the monthly, I don't have the best credit but its not that bad either..Its about 135 miles away from where i live, they will deliver and pick up my GZ250 too..I haven't put any money down yet but my loan is approved and they already have all my info just have to drive up there and sign in person, they don't want to send the paper work in the mail because my wife is not convinced that i should get a harley when we were there 2 weeks ago..the whole deal is $5,105 with my $500 down..so you guys think i'm getting taken here?? monthly will be $125 which is about my budget..

How much are they giving you for your Suzuki? The KBB value for a 2008 1200C is ~$6100 in excellent condition. The bike you are looking at is far from excellent. Once you let us know how much you are getting for your Suzuki, then we can let you know what we think.

If that is the bike you truly want, then save and wait for it.

First potential problem I see with the 1200 is those blue pipes, looks like it may be running really lean. Putting on low restriction pipes with no pressure balance tubes can cause that, and I don't know if an 08's fuel injection will compensate without adjustment. Lot of folks throw on loud pipes and then wonder why the bike backfires and has less power.

Something to look at carefully with the mileage and years on that one - it could have the original front tire and tube, and you don't want to ride on either with that mileage. There's an oval imprint on the sidewall with 4 numbers, first two are the week of the year, 3rd & 4th the year.

Example: 2408 would be the 24th week of 2008.

If it has an 08 tire, tell the dealer he should know better and forget charging for the new tire. I would be really surprised if it had the original rear, they just don't last that far.

Sporties are really reliable and I'd take the 1200 over that 883 because a 1200 doesn't care that I weigh over 200 lbs, way more power.
