Default speedometer

I was riding with a friend on a goldwing this week end, I was running 75 on the interstate and he claimed I was riding slow. We rode 75 miles , had some lunch and headed back. This time I downloaded a speed app on my phone to check the speed. His speed matched the app. Mine was 3 mph faster than the app.
How many have checked their speedometers to see if they are true? How do I calibrate it?

My Wide Glide was slow by 3 mph too. Friends with a SG and a RG are both off by 3 mph also. I tested mine with radar.

My CVO seems to be about 1 mph slow.

Speedometers showing 3 mph fast keeps tickets away, makes you think you are getting better mpg and runs your warranty out faster.

This is common with many if not most motorcycles. My other bike, a Honda VTX 1800, also registers a higher speed than is actual. My Ultra classic is about what you say yours is, 3 mph off. I always watch my GPS for speed and never the speedometer. I think it's the company's way of saying "slow down".
