Side extensions? You mean a place for your feet to maintain balance as you ride up the ramp? How about a set of 8' 2x6 (or 2x8) lumber lying next to each edge of the ramp? Put rubber bumpers under the boards so they don't slide or slip.

Fortunately, I already had two ramps (2"x10"x6') that I use to load the "vette" onto my car lift.

If you decide to use something like this be sure that you have them far enough away from the lift when you lower the lift and bike.

heres the manual for the old extensions they use to sell. the phone number is still the same as the ones on the current lift. maybe they could point you in the right direction.

Default DIY side extensions

I built these extensions for a place to put my feet as I ride up on the table. Simple materials and removes quickly or can remain in place. 1/2 inch conduit attached to the 2x6 that slips into 3/4 conduit attached to the table. A cotter pin keeps the extensions from sliding out. The conduit is attached to the table and 2x6 with conduit straps. The 2x6 is 8 feet long and extends past the end of the platform allowing you to put your feet down as you start up the ramp. It works really well, very stable.
