Default Re-tune or not....

Hi all would like to fit Vance and Hines shortcut exhaust to my 2004 sportster 1200 custom.... Will they go straight on without any bother ? Cheers all ...

I don't know about the 2004 sporty. If it is EFI ( I would bet on yes) then you need to remap your bike. Also a high flow air cleaner is prob recommended too. You can do damage if you just swap out the pipes and nothing else. Put you pipes on the shelf and save up for the tune pack.
Actually thinking about it, go to Vance and hines website and they should give you their recommendations..

2004? You'll probably need to get a jet kit and rejet.

Been thinking about putting shortshots on my '02 as well. From the research I've done, it seems as though we're probably OK, jetting wise (your '04 is carbed, not EFI) with stock jets if you are just putting on the shortshots and still running the stock air cleaner. Going to slightly larger (richer) jets is not a bad idea but not necessary until you also go to a higher flow air cleaner.

Keep in mind this info is from my research only, I don't have any personal experience. I'm sure someone who is more familiar will chime in...
