Has Your Taste in Bikes Changed as You've Aged???
Younger (in my 20's) back in the 70's, I loved my Chopped XLCH, extended front end, King-Queen seat and Six Bend Bars.
In the 80's I wanted faster, I didn't like to work on the bike all the time. Thus I had (3) CB 750's and (3) GW's for yrs
FF to 07,,, I finally got the bike I've always wanted, a Heritage. It takes me back to my Child-Hood (60's) when most Harley's had leather bags and Fringe.
I know most youngsters CAN'T relate to the (spots and fringe).
I still love a good looking custom bike set up for Solo riding, but its not something I'd want for myself or buy
SO--my Question to all of you is, HAS your taste changed as to what you'd own as you've aged???

Now that you mention I have noticed that mine taste salty if I ride too early in the spring before the rain washes off the roads. Also kind of tastes like fish when those bugs get plastered during the summer.

I was "aged" when I started riding (59). First one was an '06 Road King and my current motorcycle is a '12 Road King. I've had a couple of other baggers, but I love my King. I'll be 67 in a month and I hope I've purchased my last motorcycle (so does my wifey)

Rode dirt bikes throughout my late teens, raced MX in my 20's thru 30's, in my late 40's kinda dreamed about street every time I saw bikes on the road. Finally in my early 50's (kids all grown) went to HD. All my past experience has lead me to this place. It's my density - destiny - whatever, I'm smitten as a kitten now.

Not really. The bikes I liked 30, 40 years ago I still like. I was never much into highly modded bikes unless done tastefully. Flash isn't me and it never was. My first bike 49 years ago was a FLH and my last was a RKC. That goes to show how little my taste has changed. Most custom builders don't make anything I'd want to pay for. I'd ride a few, but I wouldn't want to buy one. They are generally not very practical. Handling, comfort, reliability, and often times safety are compromised for looks.

Yep. Went through a cruiser phase when I first started. Then I got onto sport touring with the emphasis on touring. Then morphed into the emphasis being sport but touring. Now I am into cruising along and enjoying the ride.

Pretty much the same as you. A couple of small Hondas to start, then onto an XLH (68). From there I went to Kawasakis for about 30 years. Now riding an '09' Heritage and loving it. Keep the shiny side up.

Not really. When I started riding in 1969 on dirt bikes and "street scramblers" (dual purpose bikes--street legal with high pipes for off road) I dreamed that someday I'd own a big Harley. What I envisioned then is what I own now, a Road King Classic. To me, that is what a Harley is supposed to look like. I can't imagine myself on a bike with a fairing, stereo or "infotainment."
I'm not disparaging what others like. But that's my taste and always has been.
