These various threads about seeking advice on a first bike got me to reminiscing about the first few times I got to ride a motorcycle.

I had friends with mini bikes so got to ride them a few times, but the first actual motorcycle for me was on a Honda 250. I was about 14 and my sister's BF figured out it would keep me away from the house for long periods of time. Then he gave me a moped which I got running and used to raise hell around the neighborhood with. There were some nicer bikes my friends owned that I occasionally got to ride but but I went bike-less for too many years.

Then finally I got my 1200 sportster (man, if only I could have had it back in High School). Too bad it took me all these years.

 

13..my brothers tote goat ..after he said .."you better not touch it when I'm gone"lol...don't think I didn't get a beating for that!

 

I was 7 in 1958. My Dad bought a brand new 1958 BMW and I rode on the back with him the summer of 1958.
Christmas 1958 my Mom and Dad bought me a mini bike for Christmas.
I got a Hodaka Ace 90 dirt bike in 1964 when I was 13.
Got my mc license in 1967 and have been riding for 47 years.
The rest is history.

 

14, on a full size Honda 50 ... it was awesome ... hooked me ....

 

17..... a 1970 something Yamaha 350 that I bought from a friend at church. I thought the thing was huge. The guy I bought it from taught me how to ride it on the day I bought it. Rode it home, parents didn't know what to say. After all I did buy it with my money!!! Been on two wheels off and on since... more on than off!!!

 

I was 12 or 13, I got to ride a buddies dirt bike, and another had mini bike. I also got a moped that I ended up supping up. All that ended when my dad got remarried and my step mother was a widower from a motorcycle accident. So needless to say they are not happy with my mode of transportation.

I was 17. I bought a Honda 175. I never been on or rode anything other than a mini bike a few times.

I was even clueless how to shift. When the previous owner dropped it off he gave me a few verbal instructions.

My first time out of the driveway I almost hit a tree. After that... Piece of cake!

 

The first dirt bike ride was at 11, my first road bike at 16. It was a Honda XL 250R enduro.
