Default new turn signal wiring

Got a question you haven't let me down yet. I have a 93 sportster with stock turn signals. I ordered new turn signals from drag specialties. The problem is that my turn signals are 2 wire and the new ones are 3 wire. I'm sure this is an easy one for you but I have never done this before. I'm guessing I don't need one of the wires but which one and will that make them work any less than if I had a 3 wire setup. Thanks in advance

The third wire is there so that you can also use your turn signals as running/parking lights.

You can use a regular 12 volt battery (like the ones you put in smoke alarms and such) to test which two wires will work, although technically I believe it doesn't really matter because parking lights dim by the use of resistors elsewhere in the circuit (which you won't have in the 2-wire set up), so any two wires should work.

Your year uses the body for ground. The new lights use a wire for a more reliable ground connection.

so do I have to use the other two wires? The hole down the middle of where the turn signal mounts to is only wide enough for one wire to go through. So cut the other two off and just use the hot wire?

No you need all 3 wires. 1 is running lights, 1 is turn signals, last is ground. The new lights aren't self grounding, you'll need to connect the ground wire to the frame somewhere. I'm assuming these are front lights we're talking about?

No the back lights. Stock are only one wire using the mount as a ground. So I guess I have to figure out how to ground it cause only one wire will fit down the tube that the light attaches to.

Even if you can ground it in the light, you'll still need 2 wires for running and turn signal.
Unless yours are turn signal only. My 94 Softail only has 1 wire, signal only.

Each stock signal should have a wire running from the signal itself to a grounding point. If you leave those in place so you can re-use them you'll be able to run just the one hot wire from the toggle switch and then re-connect those existing ground wires back up to each of the new signals you install.

Just make sure the set up works properly before you go ahead and snip those other two wires off.

Hook them to the battery and use the one that burns bright for your turn signal. One wire will be ground one will be bright for turn and the other will be dim for running light.
