Default Grade 8 Hardware - Shocks

Installing new shocks and due to the spacers I have to use, I need longer shock bolts. Anyone find the same type that HD uses except longer?

Need grade 8, 1/2" x 3" pan head with torx.

Replacing lower shock bolt on Sporty.

Thanks

It doesn't have to be a torx head. One of my sporties has torx, other has hex head. The rounded torx looks smoother, but to be honest, I never even noticed till this post made me curious, since I seemed to remember taking off a hex head. Hex head might not look as nice, but if you can't find a torx in the right size, a hex or an allen head is an option.

As mentioned, Ace hardware is a good source, or if you have a Fastenall location, better yet. Last time I tried to find some at Ace, the grade 8 bolts were that black oxide coated hardware, not ideal. Torx head might be hard to find, and if you are re-using the lock nut, I believe the lower shock is a fine thread, top is course threaded.

if they have fastenall in your area that is where i would stop first
just take the old bolts with you and tell them what you what

that way you can match it up pretty good

1/2-13 is course threads per inch& 1/2-20 is fine threads per inch.
